ParentClick.com The ultimate online resource for parents, families and communities.

If there’s one thing most parents agree on it’s that there aren’t enough hours in the day to care for a home, a job, the kids, and countless other tasks that crop up during a typical week. Santa Barbara mom Rachael Steidl can relate, and in order to make life easier for other busy parents, Steidl developed ParentClick.com, a free online guide of local family resources.

Now, with a few clicks of the mouse, moms and dads can find information ranging from a community events calendar and parent chat room to a business directory with links and contact information for resources including camps, playgroups, preschools, child care, and much more.

Steidl says she started the site out of frustration with finding simple resources for her three young children. “My goal was to create a Website that centralized local resources for parents,” Steidl explains. “The purpose is to make life easier for parents by allowing them to do their research from home; it’s about giving parents choices so they can choose the best options for their family.”

What launched in 2002 as a site geared toward families in the Santa Barbara area has since expanded to include 23 territories across the country. “We provide the technology and support but each territory is individually owned so that it can meet the needs of its community,” says Steidl.

With more than 30,000 subscribers, one popular feature is ParentClick.com’s complimentary e-newsletter–a monthly email update offering an inside look at special events and activities. The site’s free classifieds section is one of the most highly trafficked areas, giving parents a quick and convenient place to buy and sell children’s items, check out childcare exchange opportunities, and learn about upcoming neighborhood garage sales.

Not sure what to make for dinner tonight? Check out the online recipe club featuring numerous kid-approved dishes. Curious whether the latest kid’s movie is worth the price of admission? ParentClick.com has movie reviews along with reviews of children’s books and DVDs.

In addition to offering parents a wealth of kid-related information, site visitors are also encouraged to make a difference in their communities. The Families Giving Back page posts volunteer needs and wish lists from a variety of area nonprofits, presenting families with ideas of local service opportunities. “This is an easy way for parents to find out how they can go out with their kids to volunteer or do something as simple as buying school supplies for a child in need,” Steidl says.

Practical parenting articles, terrific travel tips, and entertaining blogs round out the site, making certain that there’s something that appeals to every visitor. ParentClick.com also offers extensive product reviews-great for the upcoming gift-giving seasonĀ-and spa reviews for mom’s weekend getaway.

With more than a million hits per month, it’s clear moms and dads are benefiting from all that ParentClick.com and each of its territories has to offer. As Steidl says, “ParentClick.com is about supporting the whole family, whether you have a toddler or a teen.”
